For the love of humanity: a day to give

Valentine’s Day is the day we celebrate all things LOVE. Whether it’s romantic love, friendship, or your favorite cause, today is the day to show up with your heart on your sleeve.

For those of you whose hearts hold love for our refugee brothers and sisters who come to us from torment and torture, from lands afar, we ask that you consider giving today. Asking for money isn’t something we do very often, but this Valentine’s Day we wanted to give you the opportunity to show your love with a donation. A work of the heart.

Our work of welcoming is a work of the heart, pure love poured out in the form of a gigantic red tablecloth laden with food for our newest migrant families. Our welcome picnics are days where we get to lavish goodwill on people who have suffered beyond what should be humanly possible. Our migrant families have known the terror of war and death, rape and kidnap. They have usually borne years of hardship and lack in refugee camps. And so, our welcome picnics are a day of huge importance as we seek to redress some of the horror and say, you are welcome, you are safe, you are loved. A love feast!

If you would like to celebrate Valentine’s Day by contributing to the cost of our welcome picnics, we would love you for it. Healing for the wounded.

The other work we do is to provide resilience care . Our new Australians arrive here having suffered displacement, traumatic life events and shocking emotional despair. GROW Resilience Program is designed to promote emotional, spiritual & social well-being so refugees can thrive at life in Australia and not be held back by unprocessed trauma.
