Picnic in the park

Queen’s Park, Toowoomba, proved the perfect place for a pop-up picnic! People from all cultures and backgrounds came to the park last Saturday to soak up the sun and enjoy the friendly, laid back atmosphere. The free sandwiches on offer were a big hit, as was the coffee van, the photo booth, and the henna tattoo station. Children played together, getting creative with paint and enjoying various sports and games.

The park was filled with the sound of laughter, happy conversation, and live music provided by local blues artist, Dean Morgan, and the You Belong Band. Overall, it was an afternoon of fun, community and belonging, with opportunities for people to share their stories and to receive encouragement and support.

A big thank you to all the volunteers and organisations who helped make this pop-up picnic a success: Fruit of the Willow, Emerge Café, 2nd Shot, 92.9 Voice FM, Young Kings and Presidential Blues.

Volunteer or Donate and help us empower newly arrived refugees in Australia.
